Looking back can be daunting. Especially if you are one of those people like me who tend to romanticise the past regardless of how fond you were of that time when you were actually there. I think the same can be said about films. As we change individually and collectively our appreciation and tastes change in parallel. Sometimes this leads us to coming back to something we remember loving (or hating) then completely changing your mind leaving you thinking “what on EARTH did I see in this?!” or vice versa.
Now this is where I come in. I am now here to remind you about the films that you are remembering incorrectly. Those films with CGI so bad it now looks like a game, or with themes so blatantly immoral and offensive it makes Polanski look polite and Mel Gibson PC.
I’m not blaming you either or suggesting you are misinformed but I have discovered recently how much movies can age beyond our initial comprehension, some like Clooney, some like Rourke and it can be rather pleasant uncovering something you didn’t initially see.
So have read and maybe you will find a something new that you love, whilst avoiding stuff you perhaps won’t.
Happy reading, all the best,
Alfie
